Isaiah 49:16
The book of Isaiah speaks often of the coming of the Servant Savior we know is Christ. I am always overwhelmed at the authority and accuracy of the voice of the true biblical prophet(s). Clearly it is because the words they spoke were given by God and they were fulfilled and are being fulfilled. They were not fueled by the American dream, no fluff, no self-seeking appeal to placate to the greed, pride and false hopes of the vulnerable or disobedient who go their own way; just truth. Judgment followed the stiff-necked but restoration was a central theme spoken by God thru the prophets as well. THANK GOD FOR HOPE!!     The forty-ninth chapter of Isaiah contains part of the oracles of salvation. It speaks, at that time, to God's chosen people, to those exiled. It speaks now to Jew and Gentile alike, to all who have ears to hear. I love that God reminds us that those who are in relationship with Him, He WILL NOT FORGET. It helps us to understand that although there are seasons when we must endure trouble, trial and hardship {sometimes by our own hand, sometimes not} GOD DOES NOT FORGET US OR NEGLECT US. Yes God was speaking specifically to the exiles in their circumstances but it rings true for His children today as well.      Be encouraged! A woman cannot forget the fragile, helpless, dependent child who is nursing at her bosom, but, even if she does the word says God will not (cannot) forget us. It is not in God's nature, His essence or His character. Verse sixteen says: "See I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands; Your walls are continually before me."  That means I am always on the mind of God, always in the hands of God.  It implies that there can be no separation. Inscribed means engraved. No one can erase it! There is no distance that will cause Him to not see me, even when I can't see Him! It says that nothing can separate me from God's love (Romans 8:38-39). But God doesn't even stop there. God says your walls are continually before Me. God is concerned about our well-being consistently, yes constantly and forever (Psalm 40:5). He sees. He knows. He cares. I am in His hands and on His mind.
