In the workbook, Seeking Him: Experiencing the Joy ofPersonal Revival by Nancy Leigh DeMoss and Tim Grissom, the authors do anexcellent job outlining the importance and need for revival; corporate andpersonal. By definition to be revived means to be brought to life again. Thenrevival in our context, which is spiritual, would mean to be brought back tolife as God intends. Life as God intends is that we live according to Christ’sexample. It is living fully submitted to the Father, enveloped in the grace ofGod through the work of the Son, empowered by the Spirit of God, living livesof service to the glory of God. True revival brings us back to that life.
Psalm 85:6-9 says:
Will you not revive us again that your people may rejoice inyou? Show us your steadfast love, O Lord and grant us your salvation. Let mehear what God the Lord will speak for He will speak to His people, to Hissaints; but let them not turn back to folly. Surely, His salvation is near tothose who fear Him that glory may dwell in our land.
Hosea 10:12 reads:
Break up your fallow ground for it is time to seek the Lord untilHe comes and rains righteousness on you.
Hosea 6:1 finds the prophet declaring: Come let us return tothe Lord for He has torn us and He will heal us. He has wounded us and He willbind up our wounds.
Two Chronicles 7:12-16 then the Lord appeared to Solomon atnight and said to him: I have heard your prayer and I have chosen this placefor Myself as a temple of sacrifice. If I close the sky there is no rain, or ifI command the grasshopper to consume the land, or if I send pestilence on Mypeople, and My people who are called by My name humble themselves, pray andseek My face, and turn from their evil (wicked) ways then I will hear fromheaven forgive their sin and heal their land. My eyes will now be open and myears attentive to prayer from this place. And I have chosen and consecratedthis temple so that My name may be there forever; My eyes and My heart will bethere at all times.
Clearly, God’s desirehas been for God’s people to obey the Word of God. There is also something elsethat is clear, even from Old Testament records often over-looked, it’s that Godis set on intimate relationship/fellowship with His people. God has alwaysinitiated relationship with humanity. It is strikingly evident as well that thekind of fellowship that the scriptures speak of requires that God’s people dosomething in response to embrace the relationship and to bring God glory. TheNew Testament is also very clear concerning these truths as well, beginningwith the receiving of our salvation. John 3:16 For God so loved the world thatHe gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish buthave everlasting life. Our part is to open our hearts to the prompting of God,believe and act upon the Word we hear. That is what true revival does, itavails our repentant, obedient hearts to God and when our hearts are obedientlyavailable so goes every part of our existence.
Jesus’ words are these: “I am the vine and My Father is thevineyard keeper. Every branch in Me that does not produce fruit He removes andHe prunes every branch that produces fruit so that it will produce more fruit. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in Meand I in you. Just as a branch is unable to produce fruit by itself unless itremains on the vine, so neither can you unless you remain in Me. I am the vine;you are the branches. The one who remains in Me and I in him produces muchfruit because you can do nothing without Me. If anyone does not remain in Me,he is thrown aside like a branch and he withers. They gather them throw theminto the fire and they are burned. If you remain in Me and My words remain inyou ask whatever you will and it will be done for you. My Father is glorifiedby this: that you produce much fruit and prove to be my disciples.” John 15:1-8
There are seven things we can look and pray for as evidenceof revival in us:
Restore first love
Rebuild desire for God’s Word, prayer, praise and obedience
Resolve conflict (inward or external with others)
Repair broken marriages and relationships
Remove bitterness, fear and worry
Refresh our spirits
Renew our minds
Reform our lives
Adapted from “Seeking Him”, pg 18-19
Revival, not relegated to the 3 day or week long event, isfor people who have relationship with God already. The Bible is clear inrevealing that truth. When we are truly revived those who are in need of Christwill seek Him because they will see Christ character and ministry in us. Thatis one of the key reasons for revival.
Revive us again O Lord! Start with me.
Search me O God and know my heart! Try me and know mythoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me and lead me in the wayeverlasting. Psalm 139: 24

With havin so much written content do you ever run into any issues of plagorism or copyright violation? My blog has a lot of exclusive content I've either created myself or outsourced but it seems a lot of it is popping it up all over the internet without my permission. Do you know any solutions to help reduce content from being ripped off? I'd definitely appreciate it.

Thank you for visiting. There is a very real possibility of someone stealing your work when published online or in print. I have my stuff copyright protected so if I see it I can take someone to court. Thanks again
