Thoughts for Today

HE WILL DO IT!!!

Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.                                 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24

One of the hardest things it is for us to do is to fully and completely rest in the fact that Jesus Christ has already completed the work. What work?
His death on the cross bore the complete wrath of God. It was poured out on Him on our behalf (Romans 5:8-9). Jesus really did die a substitutionary death for the world. Every sin. For all who receive this truth we do not have to simply exist because we are so afraid that if we mess up.... We ARE going to mess up. Let's face that head on. However, when we do it is covered; it's no excuse to practice habitual sin but we know that we must sincerely repent and keep moving forward not condemn ourselves (Romans 8:1).

We who believe have also received the Spirit of Christ, the Holy Spirit who has sealed us and is our guarantee (Ephesians 1:13-14).  With those things in mind let us not grow weary and be yoked by legalism and self-condemnation nor condemnation which comes from another. Let us walk in the liberty of Christ while living the sanctified life. To be sanctified just means we are selected by God for uncommon use, for a sacred purpose and service to advance the Kingdom of God. Ours is to seek to live according to the call but it is God who sanctifies us completely. JEHOVAH MEKADDISHKEM, the Lord who Sanctifies (1 John 1:7; Psalm 119:1). God knows our strengths AND our weaknesses. Through the beauty of God's grace, the work of His Son, the washing of the Word and keeping of the Holy Spirit we will be preserved blameless: body, spirit and soul. He who called you is faithful. HE WILL DO IT!
