"Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know."
God speaks through the prophet Jeremiah to charge the people to call out to Him because He desires to answer. There is something about the heart of our God that delights Him to respond to the voice of His children. He's the one who actually started this call and response thing ;-)
That is one of the major differences of Christianity when compared to many other religions. Our God is near us and not afar off, aloof, a thought or series of lofty ideas to be obtained. He is very personal and draws near to those who seek Him whose hearts and spirits are broken and contrite. He sees need and steps into that need, that trial, that trouble in that moment with us, even when we caused it ourselves. His requirement of us today is the same. Receive what He is offering and follow His way and not our own.
If you want something different to happen. Call to Him. Forget the distractions, issues, habits, failures and foolishness and call to Him. Cry out with a loud voice or a faintest heart cry; as long as it is genuine God will respond.
He will answer. He has spoken it and therefore obligated Himself to respond to your sincerity.
He says that what He says will be great and mighty things, which translates as things that are inaccessible and unfathomable. When we call out to God He will tell us things we did not know. Secrets, mysteries of His gospel that change us for all eternity. I am calling Him, today and each one that follows. Who knows what problem you may solve or hurt that I may heal, not just for me, but even more for others when I hear the answer He gives. Speak Lord I am listening. Tell me something good.
